Amplifying Women's Voices for a Just and Sustainable Environment

Women’s Media Initiative for Sustainable Environment (WISE) empowers grassroots women and girls in Uganda to share their stories, strengthen their collective voice, and influence decisions affecting their environment, rights, and livelihoods

Who We Are

A Women-Led NGO Amplifying Grassroots Voices in Uganda and East Africa

WISE - Women's Media Initiative for Sustainable Environment - is a Ugandan women-led non-governmental organization. We strengthen the voices, agency, and leadership of grassroots women and girls in natural resource governance, environmental justice, climate justice, women's rights, land rights, media storytelling, and movement-building.

Founded in response to growing socioeconomic, environmental, and gender inequalities linked to extractive industries, land-based investments, and climate impacts, WISE equips women and girls to tell their own stories and use those stories to influence decisions.
